MEDIATION

Professional Mediation services are beneficial for achieving resolution in a wide variety of conflicts.  Below are two  areas of service provided, but do not hesitate to contact me about mediation services that do not fall specifically within these arenas.

MEDIATION SERVICES

Mediation is a method of dispute resolution that is voluntary, confidential, and generally cooperative.  It is a non-coercive, neutrally facilitated negotiation to reach a mutual decision.  Instead of focusing on the conflict, the parties are encouraged to understand each other’s point of view and work toward their common goal of an early, inexpensive and lasting resolution of their dispute.

In mediation, an impartial individual with specific training and expertise in communication, as well as dispute management and resolution, helps individuals understand and resolve their differences.  The mediator does not make decisions, or compel a particular result, but rather helps the parties reach their own agreement.

Mediation can be employed at almost any point in a conflict, whether or not formal legal proceedings have been commenced or legal counsel has been engaged.

I offer two tiers of mediation services.

Community Mediation - this is a lower cost service designed for conflicts of an interpersonal nature, or relating to a low dollar value.  These would involve "quality of life" type issues, such as a neighbor's barking dog, adjusting a parenting plan, or things of that nature.

Civil Mediation - this would be appropriate in situations where there is current litigation, or litigation is possible.  If there are attorney's involved on either side, this is the appropriate service.  Civil Mediation can be used for things such as:

• Personal Injury

• Civil Lawsuits

• Employment Disputes

• Real Estate Disputes

• Contract Disputes

• Divorce & Family Law

• Partnership Dissolution

• Business Disputes

• Landlord/Tenant Disputes

• Co-Employee Disputes

• Inheritance Disputes

CHRISTIAN CONCILIATION

Christian Conciliation is a method of dispute resolution which can be used when Christians who recognize the authority of the Bible and the instructions of 1 Corinthians 6:1-8 wish to resolve a conflict outside of the legal system.  It can involve two processes.

• Conflict Coaching.  This process may involve only one party to the conflict, or if appropriate, may be engaged in with both parties separately.

• Conciliation.  This incorporates aspects of dispute resolution, consulting, counseling, and education under the direct authority of the Bible.

2 Corinthians 5:18 tells us that God is a God of reconciliation.  As his people we should follow Paul’s instructions in Romans 12:18 “If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.”  Whenever possible, Christian Conciliation should be pursued in conjunction with involvement and follow-up by your Pastor and/or trusted fellow believers.

Conciliation services are offered in many types of conflicts, such as:

• Church or Ministry Disputes

• Missions Disputes

• Marital Conflict

• Family Conflict

• Personal Injury

• Civil Lawsuits

• Employment Disputes

• Business Disputes

• Landlord/Tenant Disputes

• Co-Employee Disputes

• Inheritance Disputes

• Contract Disputes

• Real Estate Disputes

General Mediation services are conducted at a neutral conference facility.  Christian Conciliation services for 2 or 3 people can be conducted at a location of the parties' choosing.  For larger groups conference facility arrangements can be made.
